exercise and my hormones

Wesley suggested blogging about this...don't know if it will be of any interest...

It's no secret that my hormones have been completely out of whack.  From the changes to my body (I'll spare you the details here) to the mood swings, it's been obvious.  About a month ago I started exercising 5 days a week.  I've never been a fan of exercise, but every few years, I find something I can get into.  This time it's the Wii fit.  Some people think it's stupid, but it has gotten me moving and feeling so much better physically and emotionally, I just can't believe it!  When I work out, the day flows so much better and I am in a better place and sleep like a rock.  I really think I'll keep it up this time and continue to challenge myself.  Look out, world!  I just might wear a swimsuit this summer!!!

my me time

Okay, I have to be honest about something.  First of all, let it be said that I LOVE spending time with my family. Most of the time, there is nothing else I'd rather do.  When I'm not with them, I want to be.  That said, when I see an opportunity to snag a few minutes or hours by myself, I always take advantage and treasure it.  Is that wrong?  I feel so guilty about needing the time to myself.  What do you think?

Ethan talks in his sleep :)

A few days ago, Ethan was taking a nap on the couch.  He talks in his sleep pretty regularly, so I get a kick out of listening for it.  This one was really cute.  We just got a Wii and he likes to play with it as much as Wesley and I do.  I guess he was dreaming about it, because he suddenly said, totally asleep, "No!  Press that 'A' button!"  I told him that I had pressed it for him, and he said, "you did?" and that was the end of the conversation.  It's cool when he talks in his sleep because you can talk back and he will answer questions!  I'll have to keep blogging about those so I don't forget someday.  I never want to forget these days.  :)  He also walks in his sleep.  One time, Wesley saw him get out of bed, still asleep, and walk to his dresser.  The dresser tried to stop him, but his feet just kept moving, as if he had no idea he wasn't going anywhere.  We are definitely utilizing the baby gate these days so he doesn't do anything dangerous in his sleep!  It's cute but kind of scary.

Big boys...

While we are in the process of weaning from na-na, we do a lot of talking about what big boys do.  Here is what big boys do according to Ethan in our last convo about it.  I will be adding more as I think of them since I only get short spurts on the computer.  ;)
Remember these are coming directly from Ethan, so if they are awkwardly worded, it just adds to the cuteness.  ;)

big boys watch movies and read books
big boys eat mmms. (mmms are what we call food lol)
big boys play with mommies and daddies
big boys build
big boys ride tricycles
big boys play baseball
big boys pee outside (you can thank daddy for the demonstration on that one-still trying to convince him it's not true lol)
big boys play with toys
big boys watch a movie wubbzy
big boys watch a different wubbzy
big boys be mad (he has fun pretending he's mad)
big boys play with Lucys (our dog)
big boys be wubbzy (see a theme?)
big boys wear glasses and do a flippy flop (lol!)
big boys remember (pronounced 'nember')

He is 2 and a half and speaking his mind just like I do, so I'm sure there will be more to come.  :)

I'll have to work on an Ethan dictionary soon!

Ethanisms

The term 'Ethanisms' was just coined by my friend Christi. I liked it, so that's my first blog. Here are some of the random Ethanisms you may here when you spend a day with us:

"Little girls are for me to chase!" That's a recent one. If we go on a playdate and you bring your little girl, watch out. He will most likely develop a crush and chase her, even if she is older than he is. I'm going to have to hose him down when he goes through puberty.

He made up a jump recently that he calls the flippy flop. He basically jumps way up and spins around and lands on his butt. It's a lot of fun for grown ups to do, too.

He tells us daily that we make his heart super happy. Ok, so he didn't make that up, he got it from Kai Lan, but it's the thought that counts.

"Mommy's a coffee head!" This one came up because every morning, he wants na-na. Yes, I'm still nursing my 2 year old. Don't judge me! Anyway, I told him he is a na-na head and he told me I'm a coffee head. Tit for tat, I guess. BTW...we're done with na-na when he turns 3. He's being prepared.

"Stop picking my butt!" Okay, this requires some back story. We tell him to stop picking his butt when we see him do it, so to be funny, he acts like he's going to pick at it while telling himself to stop.

He just informed us that he has five butts. You'd think we would have noticed that by now. Why is it always about the butt with boys big and small?

"No, I amen't!" I called him a gigglebox one night, and that was his response. Then, he conceded to being a gigglebox and said that his daddy and I are aments. So I guess amen't is a verb as well as a noun. Just a minute ago, I was telling Wesley that I had forgotten to add this one, and Ethan heard me and said, "Oh! You almost forgot your amen't?" It's a multi-purpose word in Ethan lingo.

When he takes his pull-up or underwear off, he proudly announces, "I'm a silly naked boy!!!" Same holds true for when he gets out of the bath.

This will have to be continued when I think of more...I hope this made you smile in the meantime. :)
